The Mornington Peninsula’s annual celebration of its wine industry, the Winter Wine Weekend, has been cancelled. Rescheduled for July 24 at Red Hill Showgrounds after an earlier postponement, the enormously popular event will next be held on June 11, 2022.
The Winter Wine Weekend draws thousands of visitors and residents each year to sample the best of the Peninsula’s wine and food. Its cancellation is a major blow to the industry and has devastated Mornington Peninsula Wine. In a statement over the weekend, the organisation said: “In light of this week’s capacity announcements, we have reviewed the practicalities and viability of running the Winter Wine Weekend on July 24 and have made the difficult and incredibly disappointing decision to cancel the event for 2021. Winter Wine Weekend is a much-loved event and we don’t want the current restrictions to diminish the best event experience for you.
“Thank you so much for your ongoing support to our wine industry here on the Mornington Peninsula. We really hope you can come down to explore our cellar doors soon – they would really love to see you. For some inspiration, visit our website to meet our makers and plan your trip.”
Mornington Peninsula Wine said it had transferred all the tickets for the 2021 event to next year. “However, we totally understand this is a long way away and we offer you a full refund if you would prefer up until March 1, 2022.” To request your refund, email firstname.lastname@example.org with the booking name and/or reference number. You can also ask for a refund via Eventbrite.
