Organisers of the Mornington Winter Jazz & Blues Festival have nailed the line-up for the 2016 event and multi-ARIA nominee Frank Bennett kicks it off at The Rocks on Friday, June 10. As they say on their Facebook page, that’s #jazz news that’s #toogood!
Bennett’s uncanny ability to recapture the magic of Sinatra in concert has made him one of the most popular and sought after entertainers in Australia today. Soul singer Vika Bull is expected to draw a crowd to her performance ‘Let’s Get It On –The Life and Music of Marvin Gaye’ at the Grand Hotel Sunday June 12. Likewise, Australia’s leading jazz vocalist, Vince Jones, who will perform at the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery on Saturday, June 11. Between Friday and Sunday there are more than 40 performances available for you to experience, ranging from intimate Jazz dinner shows to dance floor take over swing and blues sessions.
Whatever takes your fancy, the 2016 festival has something for everyone, even kids’ entertainment on the street from 11am-3pm Saturday and Sunday!
The inaugural Mornington Winter Jazz Festival was held over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend in 2013 and has grown from strength to strength as an event that showcases the world-class food and wine, art and heritage of Mornington. It draws crowds from across Melbourne and beyond for a vibrant long weekend of great music – peninsula style.
