No doubt you’ll have noticed something new on our homepage at www.morningtonpeninsulamagazine.com.au – a big red Breaking News key.
With the loss of the Frankston Leader and Mornington Peninsula Leader behind the News Corp paywall, there has never been a greater need for access to free local news on the Peninsula. So we decided to add a Breaking News section that everyone can access completely free of charge.
Already we’ve brought you news of the looming bunfight over plans for a Maccas at Safety Beach, the winner of the $300,000 McClelland sculpture commission, and the devastating blow to the restoration of Portsea beach. We’ve reported on the search for the $80 million Powerball winner, the financial support package for Peninsula tourism, and the new marine research and education centre for Point Nepean. And we’ve had some fun with musical ice cream cones and farting cows.
So log on each day for everything from police and council news to what our residents and community groups are up to, as well as plenty more quirky stories to bring a smile to your face. Whenever something crosses our desk that we think you need to know about or might enjoy, we’ll pop it online in Breaking News. We’ll also be adding plenty of exciting features as we go, including a community noticeboard to which you can contribute, and you’ll also find the usual links to Mornington Peninsula Magazine and Eat.Drink.
