A quick-thinking teen managed to take a photo of the man who allegedly sexually assaulted her in Frankston last month.

Detectives from the Frankston Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Unit have been told the 17-year-old girl was sitting on a bench seat on Young St opposite the Frankston station about 11.40am on Monday, June 29, when a man approached, sat down next to her and sexually assaulted her. The man then walked away towards Beach St – but not before the girl managed to take a photograph of him.

He is described as Caucasian in appearance, aged between 25 and 40, with short, spikey, dark hair. He was wearing jeans and a blue T-shirt with a New York motif on the front. His fingernails were painted, and he was wearing distinctive mustard-coloured shoes.

Police are appealing for anyone who recognises the man to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
