A three month labour of love for Red Hill artist Michael Leeworthy has come to fruition and is now proudly displayed in the Norm Clarke walkway adjacent the NAB at Rosebud.
The colourful 50-metre mural was commissioned by Rosebud Chamber of Commerce to coincide with a Mornington Peninsula Shire strategy to improve the safety and use of the laneway, which had been subjected to graffiti attacks.
The laneway is now a welcoming community space with the impressive 42 panel mural depicting a vibrant streetscape, landscaping, seating and lighting.
Due to weather restrictions, the artist worked on the mural under a large tarp at his home/gallery.
Mr Leeworthy does a lot of work with young people and recently mentored a group of Mt Eliza Secondary College students painting a mural on the side of a Mt Eliza business.
He also completed a six month stint with the Work for the Dole program, where he helped participants complete a mural on the history of Westernport in Hastings.
