As the weather warms up, the sun comes out and we’re getting ready for blue skies, beaches and barbecues, here are some tips to help you stay healthy this summer.
Keep hydrated: We can lose a lot of fluid in the warmer months, so it’s important to ensure you keep up with your water intake. Aim for upwards of two litres — more if you’re more active — and try mixing it up with the addition of berries or peaches for an extra burst of flavour.
Exercise outside: Make the most of the beautiful sunshine and exercise outside. This will also help you get an extra boost of vitamin D. Make sure you stay hydrated during and after exercise and don’t forget to be sun-smart.
Add extra non-starchy salad or vegetables to your main meals: Vegetables are full of vitamins, minerals, fibre and antioxidants while being low in calories and carbohydrates — so you can enjoy more. This will help you manage your portions and assist with weight management.
