The countdown is on to the 88th Red Hill Show!   This iconic event is one of the State’s most popular agricultural shows and 2016 is shaping up to be one of the best. The return of the majestic Clydesdale and striking Gypsy Cob to this year’s show has been warmly welcomed by the Red Hill Show Committee.

“Not since 2001 have horses been allowed at the Red Hill Show grounds and we are absolutely thrilled at this news”, said Bec Davis, newly appointed Executive Officer.

As the program unfolds, the shows committee can reveal that the cooking stage will be on fire this year. Dani Venn, Channel 10 Masterchef All Star 2012 will be cooking up a storm and is a guest judge at the show. Since Masterchef, Dani has hosted Weekend Feast on Channel Ten, dabbled in breakfast radio with Tommy Little on Nova FM and started the website The Wholehearted Cook. She has become a wonderful ambassador for healthy eating and a household name.

Surrounding the cooking stage the Mornington Peninsula Farm Gate members will be sharing their food and produce along with other stallholders.  Jan from Red Hill Cheese will be running the ever popular cheese competition.  Watch the open judging of the fruitcake or marvel at the spinners and weavers. There will be stalls, food and refreshments to satisfy all tastes!

“One small change to the program this year is that the Grand Parade will commence at 3.00pm”, said Bec “It’s always a crowd favourite!”

Start planting your radishes, pruning the roses and grooming the alpacas!  Entries are open! From art, craft, cooking and photography to poultry and the Dog High Scramble. Get the kids involved this Easter!

Once you have your admission ticket there will so much to enjoy – the pavillions will be filled with art, craft, cooking, flowers, fruit and vegetables and the livestock competitions will let you get up close to the animals; children can have their face painted, enjoy a pony ride,  circus workshop, kite workshop, the petting farm and more.   The family can win a prize in the Gumboot Throw, enjoy the breathtaking Big Air School perform highflying tricks on BMX Bikes and learn their secrets in one of the four workshops running throughout the day. The Futura Kelpies will be rounding up those sheep and your won’t be able to keep still as the rhythmic tones of the Wulaba African Drummers & Dancers wow the crowd. The woodchop is always sensational and the hot chainsaw races have become a crowd favourite.

The team from Black Snake Productions will give you a chance to handle some of Australia’s native wildlife. Roaming performers, Wacca the Muscial Koala and maybe even the Easter Bunny will will make an appearance this year.
