Like bees to honey ‘The Beehive Marquee’ draws a fashionable and charitable crowd of racegoers to this annual event at the BMW Mornington Cup, held at Mornington Racing Club, this year on Saturday April 2nd.
The uniquely themed public marquee inspired by local businesswomen Annette Sanfilippo and Dee Worrell was started to entertain guests at the races in luxury and raise some well needed funds for their patron charity each year. “This year our patron charity Bully Zero Australia Foundation will benefit from our special day.” says Annette.
Annette (aka Queen Bee) continues, “Themed to resemble the elements of all things Beehive and Honey, this year we will engage a ‘Right Royal Soiree’ encompassing luxe fabrics, gold guild and fabulous decorations with help from Linen Hire From Di Simmons, fit for a decadent day out!” It’s just the perfect fun atmosphere for a busy colony of Beehivers.
Culinary delights will tease the guest’s taste buds while the stunning angelic voice of Sarah Gardner will wow the crowd to the dance floor. Annette explains “The Honey Pamper Parlour will be taken over by the swarm of beauticians and hairdressers preening and pampering Miss Honey Bees and the discerning Drones all day with hair and make-up touch-ups in readiness for the in house ‘Fashion in the Hive’ award vying for the title of King and Queen Bee. Never underestimate the element of surprise as we will sting you from behind with a few on the day! Our fashions will be judged by a celebrity guest and Queen Bee will host the day until raffles will be drawn and gift bags fly out of the hive with all the guests.”
Mickey Blue and Annette Sanfilippo Millinery Art are proud gold sponsors of the fashion winners who will continue the Buzz for post event entertainment in Main Street after the day!
“There is still time to get involved” says Annette, “It’s a buzz all day long raising funds for Bully Zero and ‘beeing’ well supported by some wonderful businesses. The ‘BEE IN IT BAG’ guests’ take home is supported by the likes of Ace Printing, Kiss Me By the Sea, Linen Hire from Di Simmons, Brooklands of Mornington, Starlettos, Mornington Racecourse, Mornington Peninsula Magazine, Miss Velvet, Tyabb Roses, Ladies in Racing Magazine and many more…”
Stop flapping around and follow the Beehive Marquee on facebook to register your interest for 2016. It’s bound to be a honey pot once again. Mornington Peninsula Magazine is excited to be involved for 2016.
