Rosebud is set to become the destination for families this summer with the development of the Destination Rosebud Playground where kids of all abilities are welcome.
Located opposite the pier and inspired by the Mornington Peninsula’s unique geography and landscape, this innovative and fun foreshore play space will cater for a range of ages and abilities (although not officially an all abilities space) and aims to inspire and excite through a number of accessible play options. There’ll be paths throughout the ground level, ramps to shelters, a single accessible BBQ, basket swing and tactile garden, plus a natural pallet of materials to explore.
Mornington Peninsula Shire Council has engaged Glascott Landscape & Civil to deliver the new Rosebud foreshore playground in time for Christmas. Designed by HASSELL, the playground is being constructed to cater to the growing community and their new ‘Destination Rosebud’ campaign aims at encouraging a high level of usage over the summer months.
The junior play space at Rosebud will focus on sensory and imaginative play while senior areas will provide a range of age specific challenges. There will be large and small mounds for climbing, bank slides, swings, a flying fox, balance beams and a rope haul. An outdoor classroom, various shelters and garden beds will encourage social activities and adventure.
