What began as a shared curiosity and a parcel of land has grown into one of the Mornington Peninsula’s most unique food experiences.
Nestled among the rolling hills of Flinders, Flinders Truffles is a family-owned farm producing premium black truffles while welcoming visitors to experience the remarkable world of truffle farming firsthand. Established in 2017 by Jane and Tony Groves, the farm has evolved from grazing pasture into a thriving truffiere, home to rows of carefully planted French oak trees, rich soils and the seasonal rhythms that produce one of the world’s most sought-after culinary treasures.
Driven by a passion for adventure, food and the land, the Groves family immersed themselves in the art and science of truffle cultivation. Years of planning, nurturing and harvesting have transformed Flinders Truffles into a respected producer, where people, nature and their much-loved truffle dogs all play an important role in the journey from farm to table.
One of the highlights of the season is the opportunity to join a guided truffle hunt. Visitors can watch the talented truffle dogs at work as they search beneath the soil for hidden black truffles, before learning more about the harvesting process and what makes these prized delicacies so special.
Farm gate weekends have also become a popular destination for food-lovers. Guests can purchase freshly harvested black truffles and browse a range of artisan truffle products designed to elevate home cooking. The menu features signature truffle and cheese toasties, truffle-infused hot soup, exclusive truffle choc tops, and the farm’s newest creation, the ‘troll’ – a flaky scroll filled with vanilla truffle custard and baked fresh each weekend.
Adding to the experience is Flinders Truffles’ newly developed event space. Designed to host immersive food experiences, chef showcases, bespoke dining events and seasonal collaborations, the venue creates new opportunities for visitors to connect with local produce, talented chefs and the unique atmosphere of the farm.
