There is often so much more to clearing a home than sorting through cupboards and removing furniture. It can be a deeply personal task, filled with memories, decisions and emotions. Whether you’re clearing the home of someone you love or decluttering in preparation to downsize for a new stage in your life, Compassionate Home Clearing offers practical help with genuine care.
Founders Karina and Emma understand the importance of trust when inviting people into your home. They begin with a personal meet-and-greet at the client’s home, taking time to listen, understand what needs to be cleared, talk through goals and timeframes, and provide an accurate quote. Just as importantly, it gives clients the chance to feel comfortable with the team and the process before anything begins.
Sustainability is also central to their work. Wherever possible, unwanted possessions are donated and rehomed, giving them a new purpose rather than being sent to landfill. Between January and August this year, Karina and Emma helped 162 individuals and charitable organisations by passing on donated items. Recipients have included Eastern Emergency Relief Network, Mums Supporting Families in Need, the CWA, the Lost Dogs Home and Peninsula community op shops.

Karina and Emma have found that knowing possessions are going to people who genuinely need them brings families and clients great comfort and joy. A grandparent was able to collect bedroom furniture for a grandchild who otherwise had none, while another woman was delighted to have music in her home again after receiving a donated stereo. These are the small but meaningful outcomes that make the work so rewarding.
Clients also appreciate how carefully Karina and Emma work. Over the years, they have found jewellery hidden inside dog steps, money tucked away in books, and even a parents’ wedding notice from a local newspaper in the 1960s, long forgotten at the bottom of a drawer.
One of the team’s favourite parts of the job is supporting people as they downsize before moving into retirement living. They love hearing clients’ stories and learning the memories attached to items gathered over a lifetime. Being trusted with these moments is a privilege they never take lightly.
Perhaps their most heartfelt feedback came from a client in her 80s who was downsizing. She described Compassionate Home Clearing as “exceptionally caring” and said Karina and Emma always wanted the best outcome for her. She valued the way they made a stressful time feel calmer, kinder and more manageable.
If you or someone you love is clearing out a home, downsizing or decluttering, Compassionate Home Clearing can help you take the next step with patience, respect and understanding. Karina and Emma are happy to meet you and answer any questions you have.
