As Autumn settles in, local Flinders artist Ria Brenchley transitions to painting topics that reflect the changing seasons. “In the warmer months my paintings depict beach scenes and seascapes. But as the days get shorter and the light changes, my activity outdoors reduces and my painting subjects alter. I am currently painting a series focussing on cattle,” said Ria. “I love their solidarity, calm stares and protectiveness of the family unit.”
Ria’s life on a 35acre farm on the Mornington Peninsula, overlooking Bass Strait, clearly influences her paintings. “My new studio has allowed me to move to large canvases and provides both ideal work and gallery space. Nothing is more exciting for me than entering my studio and tackling a new canvas, then sharing progress via social media. Each painting is a joy and I am always brimming with ideas for a fresh series to explore, inspired by my beautiful surroundings.” The studio is currently open to visitors most Fridays and Saturdays and any time by appointment.
