A Hastings woman is planning to buy a car and caravan and set off on the ultimate Aussie road trip after becoming a multi-millionaire in Saturday’s $20 million Tattslotto draw. She and a man from Mornington were among seven division one winners who pocketed $2.85 million.
“I have been renting my whole life,” the woman said, “so I want to buy a house — my dream house — on some land that I’ve been eyeing off for years and years. I’d also love to buy a nice caravan and a car to tow it and travel around Australia with my family. That’s a big dream of mine. All I want to do is hit the road and travel.”
The woman said there were plenty of tears when her numbers came up. “When I saw that I had a few numbers I thought, ‘oh my god!’, and then I noticed I had all of the winning numbers and I could not believe it. I just kept thinking, ‘I am dreaming! No, this must be a dream!’ I cried a lot; there were so many tears. I had to go for a walk to try and calm down and to let the news sink in. I’ve dreamt about this moment so many times but I never in a million years thought this would happen to me. It’s absolutely life-changing.”
“There was lots of screaming,” the Mornington man said when he discovered he was suddenly a multi-millionaire. “I was with my family and they were all so excited for me. We were all cheering and jumping up and down. Honestly, it felt really surreal. It was very difficult to get my head around. It’s still hard to believe now. I had a few drinks to celebrate, but unfortunately I can’t do too much because of lockdown. But it was still great. It’s an awesome win for me and will change my life. Like most people, I’ll pay off the mortgage so now I will be mortgage-free. When we get back to normality I’d like to go on a big overseas trip as that’s definitely high on the agenda. I need to make sure I am wise about using the prize so I still need time to think about the rest.”
The winning numbers were 29, 33, 14, 45, 31 and 44; the supps were 26 and 19.
