Mount Eliza’s annual art exhibition returns this year on October 23 to 25 with an incredible collection of new talent.
Hosted by Mount Eliza North Primary School, the exhibition provides visitors with a unique opportunity to discover and purchase original and affordable art in a relaxed, community based setting.
Art aficionados can look forward to browsing an extensive selection of traditional and contemporary painting, jewellery, photography, textiles, sculpture and ceramics, while enjoying a barista made coffee or glass of wine.
The exhibition fosters local talent while maintaining the high calibre of exhibits that has become synonymous with this exhibition.
There are four feature artists this year; Peninsula Art Space painters Christine Sharp and Amanda Steadman, Deb Moroney (sculptor), Gina Walters (photographer) and Georgie Cunningham (jeweller).
Christine has always been involved in the arts and arrived on the peninsula via Adelaide and Sydney. Her New Zealand background has been an influence on her work both in style and content. Amanda was born and raised on the peninsula, spending her youth painting and drawing while growing up on her family’s country property. Together they created Peninsula Art Space to teach creative art classes and workshops. Deb is a Mornington Peninsula-based artist who discovered her passion for working with wire and metal while she was an art teacher in 2007. Gina is also based on the peninsula after moving here seven years ago from her birthplace in Yorkshire, UK. She has had a camera in her hand from a young age following her stepfather’s passion for filmmaking and photography, adding to this at 18 years of age with formal training. Georgie’s fascination with hand-crafted silver jewellery began at a young age and gained inspiration from her extensive travel throughout Europe, the Middle East and India.
