Meanwhile, public are seeking help to identify the owner of a monkey bike, pictured, which was dumped in Frankston North. A police patrol saw two monkey bikes travelling west on Rosemary Court about 12.30pm on Sunday, November 8. Police posted: “One rider turned into the parkland off Ribbon Court and the other rode up on to the footpath in an attempt to evade police. That rider then dropped the bike and fled on foot. The bike was then impounded – release fee $1038 – because it is classified as a ‘miniaturised motorcycle’ and it was ridden on a road or road-related area (illegally).”
The owner may be liable for the offence unless the bike was stolen, hired or ridden without the knowledge or consent of the owner. Anyone with information is asked to phone Senior Constable Joe Lynas at Frankston police station on 9784 5555.
