A Mornington man has a million reasons to thank his sister after she bought him a Division 1-winning TattsLotto ticket for his birthday. The man was one of six Division 1 winners to pocket $1,028,920.70 in last Saturday’s TattsLotto draw and said he would “sit back and relax for a while and have a think about” how he will spend his winnings.
“I was just reading the paper at home on Sunday morning when I thought I’d check my ticket,” Mornington’s newest millionaire said. “I called all of my family to let them know and they came around to have a few drinks. They were all really happy for me but especially my sister as she was the one who gave the ticket to me for my birthday. She was completely rapt when I told her it was a winner.
“I think I’ll just sit back and relax for a while and have a think about it,” he said of his plans for the windfall. “Things are getting a bit easier now with the restrictions lifting so I’ll wait and see what I can do.”
The lucky ticket was bought at Mornington News and Lotto, and owner Brian Yang, pictured, said it was the first Division 1 winning entry he’d sold since taking ownership of the store last December. “I’ll be decorating the store with streamers and balloons so all of our customers know we sold a million-dollar prize,” Mr Yang said. “I hope the winner enjoys this amazing moment and the prize changes his life.”
The winning numbers were 1, 2, 7, 8, 15 and 35; the supplementary numbers were 5 and 10.
