A man has died after a two-car collision in Somerville this afternoon. Police believe the driver of a Daihatsu travelling on Western Port Highway veered on to the wrong side of the road and collided head-on with a Mitsubishi just before 2.30pm.
The Daihatsu’s driver and sole occupant, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene. The Mitsubishi driver, who was also its sole occupant, was not injured but was taken to hospital for observation as a precaution.
The exact cause of the collision is yet to be determined, but police have asked anyone who witnessed the incident, has dashcam footage or any other information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online.
