Are you an artist looking to get more exposure for your work? Then Mornington Peninsula Shire Council would love to hear from you. The council is calling for expressions of interest from artists who live within the shire’s boundaries to create a series of photographic works for Rosebud’s new Yawa Aquatic Centre.
The successful artist will be given $5000 to create the works, which will be displayed on a wall at the centre for 12 months after the centre’s completion next March and are expected to be seen by more than 400,000 visitors over that time.
The council says the exhibition space aims to:
• Celebrate and champion the work of a local artist;
• Promote awareness and appreciation of our creative communities; and,
• Ensure that our public spaces are stimulating and engaging for visitors.
The aquatic centre will include a 50m indoor swimming pool, a Learn to Swim pool, an indoor water play area, a warm water pool, a steam room, spa and sauna, a gymnasium, a group fitness studio, a spin room, a café, multipurpose rooms and a wellness centre.
Applications close on Monday, November 30. For more information and to apply, visit mornpen.vic.gov.au/yawaartisteoi
