Neighbourhood House Week kicks off next week, so what better time for the new Mornington Community House to open its doors. Part of the Mornington Community Hub precinct at 3/91 Wilsons Rd, the community house includes an art room, a digital learning space, multiple meeting and activity rooms, a community kitchen, and all-abilities access. It shares the hub with such groups as Mornington Men’s Shed, RPP Radio, The Corner youth centre, and the Peninsula Community Theatre and will cater for a variety of programs including peer support, adult education, learning, health and well-being, and employment networking.
It opens next Monday (May 10), and volunteers, program facilitators and members of the public are invited to drop in for a look and a free cuppa between 10-11am. The house, which replaces the Albert St house that served the community for more than 40 years, was built with $2.55 million from Mornington Peninsula Shire and $2.05 million from the State Government.
