A Frankston man has had the same ute impounded for a second time this year after allegedly driving without a licence.
Police said the 36-year-old was driving along Brunel Rd, Seaford, about noon on September 17 when he passed a Somerville Highway Patrol vehicle equipped with automatic number plate recognition. A quick U-turn by the officers enabled them to locate the green Holden ute, which the driver had allegedly tried to hide near factories on Stephenson Rd.
“Somerville Highway Patrol has multiple ANPR-equipped vehicles constantly patrolling the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula roads,” police said in an online post. “These can alert police to passing vehicles which are stolen, have false/stolen plates, are unregistered or which are likely to be driven by unlicensed drivers.”
The driver will be summonsed to appear at Frankston Magistrates Court at a later date.
