The sky above Rosebud will be ablaze with colour next month as kites of every imaginable shape and size take to the air for the 13th annual Rosebud Kite Festival.
This year’s festival will feature maxi kites from across mainland Australia and New Zealand. These giant kites, in the shape of sea creatures, dragons, astronauts and more, are so large they take a string of runner kites and a team of people to get them in the air and some pretty strong cabling attached to a car or two to keep them anchored to the ground. Flying high in the sky against a backdrop of blue, they never fail to impress.
Bands confirmed for the main stage include Headmasters Apprentices, SugaTree, Luck-Louise and young rising stars Madison Bailey and Bridget ‘A’, and there’s a packed program of free family activities, circus workshops, kite workshops, a kids’ carnival, roving entertainment and food stalls to satisfy all ages.
You’ll be able to get a preview of the maxi kite displays on Saturday, March 11, from 10am-1pm before the main event on Sunday, March 12, from 11am-5pm.
