There are a few reasons that you can leave your home during curfew – but waiting for your drug dealer is not one of them. “Certain exemptions to this curfew do exist,” Mornington Peninsula police noted in a recent online post. “However, we can tell you that ‘My drug dealer was running late’ is NOT one of them, contrary to the belief of a person that tried the excuse with two Rosebud police members. Honestly, we couldn’t make this up.

“Remember that the sooner we get this under control, the sooner life can get back to normal for all of us. So do your bit and stay at home.”

The Department of Health and Human Services advises you may leave your home between 8pm and 5am for work and for essential health, care or safety reasons. You may also leave your home in an emergency. For the full list of Stage 4 lockdown restrictions and updates, visit the DHHS website.

Frankston has 64 active cases of COVID-19; the Mornington Peninsula has 25.
