It’s family first at Pier 10 Restaurant and Cellar Door in Shoreham. Stuart and Renee Baker have just welcomed their second daughter into their family’s fold and life’s taken an even busier turn. Nights are short with a newborn, a two-year-old and a successful business to run, but these two Mornington Peninsula residents are taking it in their sleep-deprived stride. Sure, the hours may muddle and the days be hard to track, but welcoming baby Zoe Prue Baker has been a joy. Renee explains.
“She was born on January 30. I was lucky – the labour was short, and I had a natural delivery. Things can become tricky with two little ones when you’re on your own. Stuart has been great. He’s been spending more time at home, although Zoe and Mia – her sister – are so well behaved while he is around. The trouble starts when he’s not there,” she laughs.
The Bakers met 12 years ago while Renee was singing at Pier 10. They’ve been married for five. Renee is an instrumentals teacher (voice) and loves singing nursery rhymes to the girls. Little Zoe is up every two or three hours for a feed.
“Yep, this ‘no sleep’ thing is unusual,” says Stuart. “But she’s beautiful. There’s three of them now (Renee, Mia and Zoe). I haven’t got a chance!” he laughs.
Mornington Peninsula Magazine would like to congratulate the Bakers on the new addition to their family. If you’re looking for a place where loved ones can get together and unwind, head on down to Shoreham’s Pier 10 Restaurant and Cellar Door, where the food, wine and outdoor ambience spells extended relations. It’s the perfect spot for all kinds of celebrations. Cheers!
