The sky above Rosebud will be awash with sea creatures, dragons, astronauts and more when the 13th annual Rosebud Kite Festival takes off on Sunday, March 12.
This year’s festival will feature maxi kites from across mainland Australia and New Zealand, including dolphins, whales, stingrays and octopuses as well as winged dragons and floating astronauts. These giant kites are so large they take a string of runner kites and a team of people to get them in the air and some pretty strong cabling attached to a car or two to keep them anchored to the ground. Flying high in the sky against a backdrop of blue, they never fail to impress.
Once again this popular family festival will be packed with free activities, circus and kite workshops, a kids’ carnival, roving entertainment and food stalls, and it’s great entertainment for all ages.
If you visit the festival on Saturday, March 11, you’ll be treated to a preview of maxi kite displays from 10am-1pm before the main event on Sunday from 11am-5pm, which will feature a full program of entertainment.
