It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Frankston with a range of Yuletide activities and offerings to celebrate the festive season. “If you can hear those sleigh bells ringing, it means Santa Claus is coming to town and Frankston’s Magical Christmas is not too far away,” said Mayor Nathan Conroy.
“Experience the magic and fun from November 27-December 24 with something for everyone. Sing along to all of your favourite Christmas songs at the carols on Saturday, December 18, at the Frankston Football Oval. Make sure you get in early to secure your free tickets to this event as this is one you don’t want to miss. If Christmas movies are more your style, grab your picnic rug and popcorn for the pop-up outdoor cinemas every Friday and Saturday night from December 3-17 in various locations around Frankston City. With kids under 12 free and $5 for those over 12, this is the perfect night out for the whole family.” Tickets for these events are available on the Discover Frankston website.
Don’t forget to grab your gifts at the markets, stop by Seaford Library for outdoor Storytime, and wear your reindeer antlers for some yoga in the park. “There will also be plenty more Christmas activities and competitions to celebrate the festive season,” Cr Conroy said. “It is, after all, the most wonderful time of the year.” For updates, keep an eye on the Discover Frankston website and the Frankston Events Facebook page.
Meanwhile, the Pines Forest Aquatic Centre will host a family Christmas pool party on Friday, December 17, from 4-7pm with a free sausage sizzle, water games and a visit from Santa. Check the centre’s website for more information.
Deputy Mayor Suzette Tayler said Frankston Arts Centre will host two Christmas shows in December. “The Very Merry Christmas Variety Special is one of the most popular shows of any daytime music and theatre season,” Cr Tayler said. “Featuring a stellar cast led by Chris McKenna as compere, along with music theatre star Ian Stenlake, tenor Roy Best, Michelle Fitzmaurice and featuring the amazing Frankston Ladies Choir, this show is just the ticket to get you into the Christmas spirit.” It’s on Friday, December 3, at 10.30am and 1.30pm.
And the queen of carols, Silvie Paladino, will perform in a Christmas spectacular with the Melbourne Opera Orchestra and Chorus at FAC on Saturday, December 4, at 7.30pm. “What a great way to celebrate coming out of lockdown and the joy of Christmas with this concert full of all of your favourite carols and Christmas songs,” Cr Tayler said. “After the year we had, it’s time to get back to live entertainment.” Click here for details.
