It looks like being a bright start to the 2021 footy season with final tweaks being made to the new lights at Frankston Park. Frankston Football Club CEO Adrian Lloyd said workers had been positioning the lights on the four new light towers so they provided maximum exposure across the oval before the switch is flicked in late March or early April.

The new lights, which can be turned up or down depending on whether training, standard matches or broadcast-level games are taking place, will allow VFL and AFLW matches to be broadcast from the park, securing its place as a premium sports ground.

The $2.8 million lighting upgrade was paid for with $850,000 from the Federal Government, $650,000 from the State Government and $1.3 million from Frankston City Council.

Frankston Park is the home of the much-loved Frankston Dolphins, who will compete in a new-look 22-team east coast competition next year alongside teams from Victoria as well as NSW and Queensland. You can find more about the club here.
