Rosebud artist Monica Adams shows at the five galleries and her work transcends the invisible boundaries of the differing regions. Her feline forms are drawn with charcoal and painted with oils and ooze a silent seduction that speaks volumes.
Monica is well-known for her strong drawing skills. Her ‘girls’ are based on women from the 1940s and ‘50s and appear to glide from the canvas through the use of traditional techniques and pops of colour. They are carefully crafted and meticulously layered with pattern, drizzled and slashed paint, and a masterly technique that creates contemporary art that is both beautiful and accessible. Touches of French painter Toulouse-Lautrec and Liza Minnelli’s Cabaret character Sally Bowles filter through her work, which hangs equally as well in contemporary city dwellings, chic seaside homes, or professional suites and public spaces.
Watch out for Manyung Gallery Group’s Pucker Up Show in February at which Monica’s work will take centre stage.
