Yawa centre manager Dan Andrews, aquatic operations manager Pat Otten, guest experience manager Clare Black and health and fitness manager Jayden Cox inspect progress on the aquatic centre.
Rosebud’s Yawa Aquatic Centre is on track for completion early next month. All pools have been filled, the pool surrounds and tiling are done, the floating pool boom has been installed to allow the 50m pool to be divided in two, and the Aqua Play Zone has been fitted with three slides, water cannons and tipping bucket. A start has been made on landscaping and the installation of signs, and over the next couple of weeks the steam room and sauna will be completed and gym equipment will be installed.
Although construction slowed for a while as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, progress was still able to be made, Mornington Peninsula Shire Council said in a statement. The target date for the project’s completion is early May and the council expects the centre to open to the public later in the month, with an opening date to be announced in the next few weeks.
Centre manager Dan Andrews said: “The Yawa team are gearing up for the centre opening. We are so excited to open the doors to the community and for the community to be able to utilise such an awesome facility.”
Mayor Despi O’Connor said: “The Yawa Aquatic Centre opening is just around the corner – we are thrilled to open the doors to Yawa in the coming months. We can’t wait to welcome everyone to this incredible new facility soon.”
