The Mornington Peninsula Art Show, sponsored by the Bendigo Community Bank and the Mornington Peninsula Shire, is back for 2016 to stimulate the senses, show off local talent and support the community.
It is a collaborative initiative of the Rosebud Secondary College Chaplaincy Committee and the Peninsula Studio Trail that promotes the Mornington Peninsula as a vibrant centre of the arts and showcases the talents of local artists in the region.
The works are exhibited in the Southern Peninsula Arts Centre, located within Rosebud Secondary College’s grounds. Proceeds help support Rosebud Secondary College students, staff and the school community through its chaplaincy program, which provides support for students and families of the school.
The major prize for the best in the show is sponsored by the Bendigo Community Bank and the Mornington Peninsula Shire Acquisitive Award encourages artists to paint a Mornington Peninsula scene, with the winning artwork added to the Shire’s collection of artworks representing the peninsula’s cultural heritage.
The show will run over Easter, with the opening night scheduled for 7pm on Wednesday March 23. The show hours are Friday March 25 (11am – 5pm), Saturday March 26 (10am – 5pm), Sunday March 27 (10am – 5pm) and Monday 28 March (10am – 2pm).
Tickets to the opening are $20 at the door or $5 at other times, guest artists are the potters of Studio 13.
