I’ve been making jewellery for around seven years now and over that time have gradually developed and expanded my business. I was initially working part-time but have now reached a point where I am making jewellery full-time out of a studio in Fitzroy. I’m grateful to have such a beautiful space to consult with clients.
Do you have a favourite piece of jewellery that you’ve designed?
It’s hard to pick one thing. From my new collection, Inherent Depths, the cascade earrings because they are so lavish and fun to make. I also really love the variety that comes from working with clients on custom pieces and commissions. I always feel so flattered when asked to make something so special like an engagement ring or anniversary ring, and I find the collaborative approach to designing jewellery with clients is both rewarding and inspiring. With that said, I recently finished a signet ring with a family crest engraved on to the face. I love the detail in the engraving and I think the sense of family pride and heritage that comes with wearing a signet ring is really special.
Do you have stockists on the Peninsula?
At the moment my work is only available online at www.benjaminrose.com.au
Do you have a five-year goal?
I’m going to expand further into bespoke and engagement pieces, find some overseas stockists and grow my business to the point of needing to hire another jeweller. I would love to have someone to share my passion for jewellery-making with.
