There’s one word to describe Africa – WOW! From the breathtaking scenery to the incredible animals, this country never ceases to enthral and excite.
During a recent visit I stayed at Londolozi lodge and my time there was nothing short of amazing. The lodge is on private land bordering Kruger National Park and to get there we drive through the game park. On the way we spot a cheetah – a rare site, according to our guide.
There are two game drives daily and we set off on our first at 4pm, full of anticipation. We were not disappointed. Along the way we encounter a pond full of hippos, three leopards and a 250kg male lion at a buffalo kill just two metres from us. To see this wild animal yawn and view those sharp teeth up close was awe-inspiring.
The food here is 5-star and on the drive back we stop at a rock cliff near the river, where we are treated to a sunset dinner of champagne, pate, cheese, strawberries and prawns. Now that was a moment…
The next day it was time to say farewell Londolozi and its never-ending food, outstanding wildlife, friendly staff and way-too-comfortable lodges. We are off to Mala Mala where a whole other adventure awaits.
