A man has had his vehicle impounded after allegedly recording a blood alcohol reading six times over the legal limit. Police said the 31-year-old was stopped while driving in Rosebud at 2.50am last Wednesday, October 14, and a subsequent breath test revealed a blood alcohol level of 0.316.

“The male informed attending officers that he was on his way to purchase cigarettes,” police posted online.

The man’s car was impounded at a cost of $1145 and he was issued with a $1652 infringement notice for breaching the Chief Health Officer’s directions. He will be summonsed to appear at the Dromana Magistrates Court later.

Meanwhile, police are seeking information about a theft from a Crib Point sporting club. A shipping container behind the club’s Colin Pde premises was broken into between 10pm on October 8 and 6am on October 11. Items stolen included 10 speakers and eight speaker drivers.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or phone Mornington police station on 5970 4900.
