Two Mount Martha houses have been assessed by Mornington Peninsula Shire Council building surveyors after yesterday’s landslide that forced the closure of The Esplanade. The houses were deemed safe after the assessment late yesterday but surveyors were due to visit the properties again today.
The Esplanade was closed in both directions after an estimated 30 tonnes of soil and debris slid on to the road near 255 The Esplanade. The SES initially took control of the site but subsequently handed over to the Department of Transport.
Investigations are continuing into the incident, and the cause of the landslide is yet to be determined.
