MP Magazine caught up with Postcards’ presenter Brodie Harper at Bayside recently – we chatted fashion, Frankston and the latest happenings on her popular and long running TV show.
Frankston is often seen as the black sheep of the Mornington Peninsula family, what is your view on this?
There will always be positives and negatives, but we have (what I think) is the best beach in the bay for one. We are always at the beach – my husband is there year-round. We also have every facility you could ask for. The new PARC is amazing – we go there for swimming lessons. Yes it’s a long way if I have an early start in the city, but then once I am home I am home and it is relaxed and easy. I can come down to the shops in my workout gear and not care. I am such a homebody though so I have to say that my home is my favourite place in Frankston.
Speaking of workout gear, can you describe your approach to fashion?
I am not one of those people who wears workout gear just to grab a coffee! But I work out every day and with a busy schedule and a young daughter, I need to be ready to take my window of exercise-time whenever it comes up. If I am in active-wear, I’m ready! Otherwise I like to keep it simple but on trend, so I usually rotate between my three favourite labels, Thurley, Kachel and Jump.
What has been a highlight visit on Postcards for you lately?
I discovered Picknics café in Rye via Postcards recently and it is fast becoming a favourite. Really great service and fresh produce that is local wherever possible. They have the Picknic Basket produce store next door that is also worth a look.
Postcards has been going for so long now, what do you think the secret to its success is?
I think there is always something new to discover in Victoria. Even if we have been to a place before everyone refurbs and they are keen to show of their new look, and we hear about so many great new places all the time.
When you have time off do you prefer to travel locally or overseas?
I will go anywhere warm. I don’t tend to travel in Victoria because it can feel a bit like I am at work, but Queensland, Hawaii and Fiji are all favourites.
