Veteran wildlife carer Brenda Marmion has her hands full saving some of our most vulnerable ‘citizens’. Ms Marmion, who runs the Rye-based Crystal Ocean Wildlife Shelter, said she had been inundated with ringtail possums. “Most are too tiny to save, but I have to try.”
Ms Marmion said four of those she was currently caring for needed formula every four hours around the clock as part of their rehabilitation. Some of those brought to the shelter had suffered dog bites and bird attacks, while others were found on the ground in the bitter cold.
The Crystal Ocean Wildlife Shelter is run on a not-for-profit basis, and any money raised goes towards providing food, shelter and first aid kits. You can find more details about the shelter and ways to support it here.
