Blues at the Briars is the place to settle back and relax while listening to first class home grown music. This is the premier blues festival on the Peninsula (in operation for four years now) where you’ll listen to blues at its best in the most beautiful rural setting – The Briars Homestead in Mt Martha.
The Blues @ the Briars team is proud to present a facility that offers great food and beverages plus family friendly activities for every one including the littlest of blues lovers. Food vendors sell local produce and the bar stocks a range of drinks (beer, wine, cider and spirits) at great prices.
March the 5th 2016 sees an event that you’re going to want to put into your calendar now.
Legendary Australian music singer/songwriter Russell Morris will be the feature artist and the day is shaping up to be something to remember. 19 Twenty, The Jerome Smith Band, Catfish Voodoo, Wilson and White, Eugene Hideaway Bridges from the US, Continental Robert Susz and The Elwood Blues Club All-stars featuring Tanya lee Davies are set to get the joint jumping.
Russell Morris has had a long and diverse career. His last two album releases have been blues and roots and pertain to events and moments in our rich tapestry of Australian history. (Both albums were produced by Mitch Cairns who works closely with him.) His first release Sharkmouth was based around the depression years, while the following album Van Diemen’s Land focuses on events such as the prison ships that began Australia as a penal settlement and the paddle steamers on the Murray River. His third album in the trilogy which connects with Australia’s interior is called Red Dirt – Red Heart.
There will also be a designated children’s secure area with a jumping castle, craft tent and a huge Tee pee plus legendary balloon man twisted Mick at this family friendly stellar event. Don’t miss it.
