Our Year 7 program prioritises academic excellence, the development of strong relationships, and a supportive, inclusive learning environment in which all students feel known, valued and confident.
A cornerstone of our program is the dedicated Year 7 precinct – a space designed to provide students with a sense of belonging. With all their classes and support systems located in one area, this environment helps students settle into secondary school life with ease, ensuring they can focus on their learning without the added stress of navigating a large campus.
The first three weeks of Term One are deliberately structured to focus on connection and routine. During this time, students engage in a series of activities designed to foster new friendships, familiarise them with the school setting, and establish clear expectations around behaviour, learning and responsibility. This early investment in connection and consistency is essential in setting students up for success.
Partnerships with families and the broader community are integral to our approach. Early in the term, we hosted a parent meet and greet to enable meaningful communication between families and staff and to share insights into student learning. Our grandparents’ morning tea was another highlight, bringing generations together in the classroom. These events strengthen the school-home partnership, ensuring each student is supported both inside and outside the classroom.
Students have also enjoyed moments of fun and celebration, such as our Neon Disco, which was a fantastic success. Seeing students dancing and enjoying themselves highlighted the importance of balancing academic rigour with social experiences that support wellbeing.
Looking ahead, we are excited to celebrate 100 Days of Secondary College. This milestone provides an opportunity to reflect on student growth and reinforce the strong foundations established this year.
