Year 12 student leaders from schools across Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula took the stage to share their thoughts in front of candidates in this month’s federal election, responding to the prompt:
This federal election, the Australian Government’s No.1 priority should be . . .
The event gave these students a rare opportunity to speak directly to politicians, local government representatives, and business leaders – and they didn’t hold back.
It was a chance for some of the region’s brightest young voices to be heard on the issues that matter most to them. With many of these students voting for the first time, their perspectives at this time were even more important.
Federal MPs and candidates including Zoe McKenzie, Chris Crewther, Sarah Race, Nathan Conroy and Ben Smith were at the breakfast alongside schools taking part as CFMP members: Peninsula Grammar, Toorak College, Woodleigh School, Balcombe Grammar, Flinders Christian College, Foundation College, Mornington Secondary College, and Frankston High School.
Events like these are a powerful reminder of just how engaged and thoughtful these new voters already are. The School Leaders Presentation Breakfast didn’t just give young people a voice; it put them face-to-face with decision-makers, creating space for real conversations between those shaping the future and those who’ll be living it.
