Angela Lord’s journey began with a simple but powerful dream: to bring the rich, vibrant flavours of Sri Lankan cuisine to her local community in Frankston.
Together with her partner, Craig, she launched La Foodies, a food truck dedicated to showcasing authentic Sri Lankan dishes made from treasured family recipes.
La Foodies quickly gained a devoted following, and in 2020 it was named one of Melbourne’s top five food trucks – an accolade that fuelled Angela and Craig’s ambition to expand. That same year, they opened Ceylon Girl’s Cafe & Bar, a place deeply rooted in authenticity and cultural pride.
Angela takes immense satisfaction in serving dishes crafted from recipes handed down through generations, reflecting the culinary heritage of her family.
The menu celebrates the fusion of Sinhalese, Dutch, Portuguese and English influences that shape Sri Lankan cuisine. Every dish tells a story of family, culture, and a passion for genuine food made with care.
Angela’s mission is to offer a truly authentic dining experience where every meal honours tradition and invites guests to share in the warmth of her heritage.
Ceylon Girl’s stands as a testament to the power of food to connect, inspire, and celebrate culture; on buffet nights you’ll find tables laden with many different dishes, and on the last Saturday of the month there’s live music to accompany the buffet.
“When you eat at Ceylon Girl’s, you’re tasting the flavours of my mother, her mother, and the generations before them,” Angela said.
