From streaming films and online classes to digital story times and even seed lending, there’s a lot you can explore, alongside your next great read. Here are five great ways to get the most from your library membership:
- Get creative: With Creativebug, access thousands of video classes in drawing, knitting, sewing, cooking, and more. Great for all ages and skill levels. Dip into a one-off project or take on a fun 30-day challenge.
- Enjoy story times anywhere, anytime
Story time doesn’t have to stop when you leave the library. StoryBox Library brings children’s books to life with vibrant storytellers we all know and love, while LOTE4Kids lets kids hear stories in more than 65 languages. Both resources include Auslan stories for everyone to enjoy.
- Watch a movie or binge a TV show: Looking for something to watch? Stream independent films, documentaries and TV series with Beamafilm, Hoopla, and Kanopy, all ad-free. Whether you love international cinema, classic drama or educational content, there’s plenty to explore from the comfort of your couch.
- Read the latest news: Keep up with the world through free digital access to newspapers like The Herald Sun, The Age, The Washington Post, and China Daily News. No paywalls; just full access to trusted local and international journalism.
- Grow something new with our Seed Library: Your library is also a place to grow – literally. With our Seed Library, you can ‘borrow’ seeds to plant vegetables, herbs, flowers and fruit at home. When your plants grow, you’re encouraged to save and return seeds so others can do the same. And if you’re looking to sharpen your gardening skills, check out our collection of gardening books, covering everything from seasonal planting tips to sustainable gardening practices.
Books are at the heart of what we do, but your library membership opens the door to so much more. Whether you’re reading, learning, watching or growing, there’s always something new to discover. Visit Mornington Peninsula Shire Library or check our website at library.mornpen.vic.gov.au, phone 5950 1710 or email askalib@mornpen.vic.gov.au to explore everything that’s available to you – all for free with your library membership.
