The future of tourism and hospitality on the Mornington Peninsula is in capable hands, with a rising generation of passionate young professionals helping shape one of Victoria’s most celebrated visitor destinations.
Established in 2023, the Beyond the Bays Young Achiever Award recognises outstanding young people who demonstrate exceptional dedication, leadership and passion for the local tourism and hospitality industry. The initiative celebrates those making a meaningful contribution to their workplace while helping strengthen the wider visitor economy across the region.
At Beyond the Bays’ recent event at Moonlit Sanctuary, Charlotte Barnes of Bass & Flinders Distillery was announced as the 2026 Beyond the Bays Young Achiever Award recipient.
Joining Bass & Flinders three years ago as a member of the bar team, Charlotte has quickly become an integral part of the business. Through hard work, initiative and a genuine commitment to excellence, she has progressed into a full-time role where she now oversees administration, invoicing, presentations, creative design, social media, events management and customer service.
Her contribution has delivered measurable business outcomes, including significantly reducing aged receivables and improving cash flow. Equally impressive is her ability to lead the Distillery Door team with confidence, maturity and empathy, while consistently delivering exceptional customer experiences.
Charlotte’s commitment extends beyond her workplace. Representing Bass & Flinders at markets and events, she actively promotes not only the distillery but also the Dromana Habitat precinct and the broader Mornington Peninsula, recognising that the success of one local business benefits the entire region.
Beyond the Bays also congratulates all finalists, whose outstanding nominations highlighted the depth of emerging talent within the local tourism and hospitality sector.
