One of the Mornington Peninsula’s most anticipated annual events is set to reach new heights, with Peninsula VineHop Festival securing support through the State Government’s Regional Events Fund.
The funding recognises the festival’s growing contribution to regional tourism and the local economy, reinforcing the Peninsula’s reputation as one of Victoria’s premier destinations for food, wine and unforgettable visitor experiences.
Returning on Saturday, November 21, VineHop will once again transform the Peninsula into a celebration of local craft beverages, live music and regional hospitality. Festival-goers will travel between wineries, breweries and cideries, discovering the people and businesses that make this region so unique. This year’s event will feature headline performances from Eric Powell, Super Disco Club and Andy Murphy, with organisers expecting a record crowd of around 6500 attendees.
The festival’s impact extends well beyond a single day. Last year’s event attracted more than 5400 visitors, generated an estimated $1.76m in economic activity and resulted in approximately 1800 overnight stays across the region. Almost half of all attendees travelled from outside the Peninsula, with many extending their visit to explore local accommodation, restaurants, retail businesses and attractions.
For local producers, VineHop provides an invaluable opportunity to connect directly with new audiences. More than 35 independent craft beverage producers, over 30 food vendors, local musicians and community suppliers come together to showcase the incredible talent and creativity found across the Peninsula. For many, it represents one of their busiest trading days of the year.
Festival director Lisa MacGregor said the government’s support would allow the event to showcase the Peninsula to even more visitors while continuing to champion the local businesses at its heart.
As anticipation builds towards November, VineHop continues to demonstrate the power of regional events to strengthen local communities, support small business and inspire visitors to return long after the music has finished. It’s another reminder that some of Victoria’s most memorable experiences are found right here on the Mornington Peninsula.
