A revolutionary salt therapy trialled in the Black Caviar stables at Caulfield Racecourse is now available for companion animals (dogs and cats) and the world-first, purpose-built salt room for pets is right here in Mornington!

The founders, Richard and Melissa Butterworth, from Equine Salt Therapy Pty Ltd, have opened the doors on the world’s first Canine Salt Therapy and Feline Salt Therapy salt room at Petorium on Mornington-Tyabb Road.  It uses the same ground breaking technology Equine Salt Therapy developed in conjunction with thoroughbred trainers and equine vets over five years and which is now used on horses globally (patented as Livestock, Treatment and Apparatus). This Peninsula couple have even sold their technology (a mobile salt therapy chamber) to Sheikh Mohammed, the ruler of Dubai!

While the introduction of salt therapy to dogs and cats is new, this initiative is targeting the same ailments that the therapy treats in horses, including respiratory system problems and skin irritation. One thing it can guarantee at this early stage of working with companion animals is that it is a unique way to “pamper your pet”.

“This is about healthier, happier dogs (and cats) and treating day-to-day lung and skin issues ‘naturally’ under the supervision of one of the world’s leading vets,” Richard says. Richard is also passionate about potentially playing a role in the reduction of antibiotic use on animals, worldwide. “This is a natural way to approach common health issues without putting any pressure on animals,” Richard further explains.

The healing properties of salt were thought to have been discovered by humans thousands of years ago (around 325BC according to records) and the Canine Salt Therapy and Feline Salt Therapy salt room at Petorium uses modern-day technology to deliver it. Equine Salt Therapy’s trademark, Ultisalt ™, is a unique dry salt aerosol distributed in the chamber as a fine mist, to be inhaled and exposed on your pet’s skin.

It’s ground breaking, unique and utterly irresistible for those of us who love our four-legged domestic friends. Prevention is our promise as your partner in natural petcare.
