Make your garden stand out this spring

web.jpg

With spring arriving and the weather improving, it’s time to get back into the garden.  If you are looking to make some long-lasting improvements then Steelscape garden edging or garden rings might be just what you need.

Joe from Steelscape makes corten garden edging. Stylish and durable, it will make your garden look really professional.  The edging is made from 100% Aussie corten steel and is designed to last.  Standard is 100mm high, but you can get it in any size.  It comes with reo bar pegs as stakes, making it easy to install.  But it gets better than that:  Joe can make kits (different shapes and sizes) at no extra charge if you supply an accurate floorplan.  Corners, waves and other shapes are no problem!

If you are looking at raised garden beds, something to protect your trees, or perhaps you live on a sloping block, the garden rings and custom steel walls can add a little class to your property.  Steelscape can make garden rings of any size for your garden.  Or if you have an obscure garden space, Joe can fabricate something unique for you.

Joe can also make retaining wall cladding, which adds something special to your garden. Designed to go over concrete walls, the rust patina of the corten steel will really stand out among the green.

Linda loves eggs

web.jpg

Linda Napolitano loves her eggs and is the driving force behind Somerville Egg Farm. Starting out on the family farm 40 years ago, collecting eggs before school to running the office as it is today, Linda co-ordinates the supply and delivery of farm-fresh eggs to supermarkets, cafes and the public via the shop.

Passionate about the environment and animal welfare, Linda ensures everything on the farm runs to the highest standard. “If the girls aren’t happy then they won’t lay, so we make sure they are very comfortable. The only thing they don’t get is a latte every morning,” she laughs. Customers often come in and tell Linda how wonderful their cakes are because the eggs they get from the farm shop are so fresh with a lovely golden yolk.

Bold move pays dividends for T’Gallant

IMG_1713.JPG

Nestled among the rolling hills of the Mornington Peninsula, T’Gallant is the home of pinot grigio in Australia. The T’Gallant story began in 1990 when it championed the planting of pinot grigio vineyards in the region. This was considered a bold move at the time; nonetheless, almost 30 years on, T’Gallant is renowned for creating a range of expressions of the now immensely popular grape variety - from crisp and zingy pinot grigio styles to the rich, aromatic and luscious pinot gris – alongside a range of other wines with vibrant personalities.

The T'Gallant Cellar Door and pizzeria is located on a former apple orchard in Main Ridge. Join the lively Cellar Door team for a tasting and they can show you the differences between pinot grigio and pinot gris wines. Also available to try are sparkling moscatos and proseccos, crisp rosés and fruit-driven pinot noirs, among other food-friendly wines.

If you’re after a bite of lunch, the T’Gallant Spuntino Bar is the birthplace of Roman-style pizza on the Peninsula, serving up a menu of classic Italian and provincial-style dishes seven days a week. On weekends, the outdoor bar serves wine straight from the tap and an array of musicians perform on the verandah.

With a bustling outdoor piazza overlooking the T'Gallant Estate vineyard, wine tastings seven days a week and a mouthwatering menu, T’Gallant is the perfect place to gaze and graze on the Peninsula. It’s open for wine tastings seven days from 10am-5pm and the pizzeria is open from 11.30am-3pm mid-week and until 4pm on weekends.

Playball sets children up for life

girl-jumping-rings-MR.jpg

The concept of Playball is the overall development of a child. The Playball program is developed by sport and movement specialists and classes run in more than 25 countries around the world.

By developing physical skills, the program contributes to every part of a young child’s life.  At Playball, a child is coached in a positive way and encouraged to develop life skills that in turn improve confidence and self-image. Children are exposed to developmental skills that enhance not only their physical development but assists in school readiness and overall wellbeing.

Motor development forms the basis of all learning. Playball teaches basic skills that can be enhanced as your child grows. Playball aims to motivate children to participate in sport and to encourage an interest in physical activities

Playball classes are age-specific and Playball has developed separate learning material for each age group according to development milestones for that specific age. This ensures the learning content is just right for your child and the stage they are at.

Playball is an educational program that runs structured sessions weekly in Mount Eliza, Mornington and Hastings. Classes are also run at various childcare centres on the Mornington Peninsula.

Brilliance in timber and steel

IMG_5315a.JPG

Joe’s passion for steel has grown over the years and developed to now include timber, which is reflected in the beautiful work he creates today. He has spent thousands of hours learning his craft and perfecting it to a fine art. Everything he does is unique and created with love and dedication.

Increasingly, Joe is focusing on sculptural furniture, which combines his industrial design skills with his love of unique art pieces. He works very closely with his clients to create something truly unique and memorable.  There is no compromise in quality with his artwork - the process from inspiration to finished product normally takes one to three months - and Joe will also install the piece in your home, garden or gallery.

Joe is very passionate about using only 100 per cent Australian-made Corten steel and Australian timber.  He sources timber from all around Australia and highlights the natural patterns and flaws to the best advantage he can.  Recent pieces have also included local custom-made glass that helps to accentuate the design.

Joe currently has one of his pieces, a table, in Inspire Gallery in Mornington.  He is planning his own exhibition in 2018.

If anyone is interested in getting a bespoke piece of unique art, Joe is offering 20 per cent off if you book in spring, so call now.
