Sharee: Senior hair stylist at Colour Collections Frankston

Tell us a bit about you and what you do?

I am a twenty-two year old living on the Mornington Peninsula. I specialise in Hair and Make-Up and am very passionate about my job. I have been doing hairdressing since 2009 and I began my Diploma of Specialist Make-Up in 2013. I love to constantly learn and grow, with not only my work and skills, but also my personal self. I started working at Colour Collections in Frankston in 2013 and absolutely adore the staff and their commitment to our clients and our combined love of hair.

Describe your style?

Edgy! Alternative! I always opt for black, white or grey tones as they best compliment my dark hair. I use glitters and funky, bright lipsticks to add colour, or to dress-up and define my look!

Do you think Mornington Peninsula style/fashion has a certain look or feel?

I love the Mornington Peninsula style! We have such a relaxing, laid back, modern feel. From the quirky boutiques to the eccentric cafes, you're guaranteed to always feel welcome and at home. Think 'Chapel St' minus all of the people, but add beautiful beaches. The Mornington Peninsula is a beacon of creativity, right at our doorstep. It's incredible to watch the small businesses on the Peninsula grow, especially the cafes that are now offering raw/organic/vegan food!

What are a couple of your favourite blogs/websites and why?

I enjoy the blog site 'Tumblr' as a whole. I follow blogs that inform me of global issues, such as racism, sexism, homophobia, speciesism and political and social issues. I enjoy engaging with my clients on a deeper level and being able to teach each other things whilst doing what I love.

Can you tell us one or two of your fave local spots?

Two favourites of mine are Soulpress in Edithvale and Aum Shanti in Frankston. Soulpress is a small cafe that offers a range of super juices, superfood acai bowls and all raw vegan desserts, my favourite being their Chocolate Raweos! The atmosphere is fun and inviting, modern, and perfect for that juice fix in summer! Aum Shanti was the first vegan restaurant I ever experienced and was amazed at their Vegan Shepard Pie! The staff are passionate about animals and the food they create. The restaurant also doubles as a gallery, with beautiful paintings lining the walls that compliment a soft, homey feel.
